MDB & ACCDB Viewer

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 14, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains the information practices of MDB & ACCDB Viewer ("we," "us," and "our") with respect to your use of our browser extension and any related services ("Services") we provide.

The short version: MDB & ACCDB Viewer opens Microsoft Access database files on your own computer and shows their tables in Chrome's side panel. Everything happens locally in your browser. We do not run a server, we do not have an account system, and we never receive your databases or anything inside them.

Before you use the Services, please review this Policy. By using any part of the Services, you understand that your information will be handled as outlined here. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

Our Principles

MDB & ACCDB Viewer has designed this policy to be consistent with the following principles:

How Your Database Files Are Handled

When you open an .mdb or .accdb file — by dragging it into the side panel or choosing it with the file picker — the extension reads that file using your browser's built-in file API and parses it inside the extension itself. The tables exist only in the memory of the open panel. The extension has no permission to access websites and makes no network requests with your data.

The extension never modifies your original file; it opens databases read-only. When you close the panel or the browser, the loaded data is gone. Reopening a file reads it again from your own copy.

Password-Protected Databases

If a database is protected with a password, the password you type is used only to decrypt that file in the panel's memory. It is not saved, not remembered between sessions, and never sent anywhere.

SQL Queries

SQL queries you run are executed by a database engine bundled inside the extension, on a temporary in-memory copy of the tables. Nothing is sent to a server.

Exporting, Attachments and OLE Objects

When you export a table or query result to CSV, Excel (XLSX) or JSON, or save an attachment or OLE object from a record, the file is created locally by your browser and offered to you as a normal download. It is never sent to us or to any third party.

Data Stored on Your Device

To make the extension convenient to use, a small amount of information is kept in your browser's local storage on your own computer. It is never synchronized or transmitted:

You can remove an entry from the recent list at any time, and all of this information is deleted when you uninstall the extension or clear your browser's site data.

On-Device AI

If your version of Chrome includes its built-in on-device language model, the SQL console shows an optional "Explain" button. When you press it, the query text is processed by the model that runs on your own computer through Chrome's built-in AI interface. The query is not sent to us or to any cloud AI service by the extension. If the model is not available, the button is simply hidden.

Information We Collect

What We Collect

Nothing. MDB & ACCDB Viewer does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on any server. The only data the extension ever touches is the database file you choose to open, and that data stays on your own computer as described above.

What We Do Not Do

MDB & ACCDB Viewer does not use analytics, does not track your browsing activity, does not read the websites you visit, does not require an account or sign-in, does not show ads, and does not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information.

Links to the Chrome Web Store

After you have used the extension a few times, it may show a small prompt inviting you to leave a review. If you click it, your browser opens the extension's page on the Chrome Web Store in a new tab, exactly as clicking any link would. No information about your files is included. The Chrome Web Store is operated by Google and has its own privacy policy, which we do not control.

How We Use Your Information

Because your databases are read locally and never reach us, there is nothing for us to use. The extension only does, on your own device, what you asked it to: show your tables, run your queries, and export the results.

When We Disclose Your Information

We do not collect or store your data on our own servers, so we have no data to disclose to third parties, service providers, or anyone else. We do not sell or transfer user data.

Your Choices and Data Subject Rights

You are always in full control of your data because it never leaves your device. You can close the panel to clear the loaded database, remove files from the recent list, choose not to open a file, or uninstall the extension at any time. Individuals in the European Economic Area ("EEA") and other jurisdictions have certain legal rights regarding personal data; because MDB & ACCDB Viewer holds none of your data on any server, those rights are already exercised directly by you on your own machine. If you have questions about this, you may email us at rentabextension@gmail.com.

Children

The Services are intended for users over the age of 18 and are not directed at children under the age of 13. Because we collect no personal information, we do not knowingly collect any from children. If you believe a child has somehow provided us information, contact us and we will address it.

Data Retention

We retain no user data, because we never receive any. Any database file you open stays on your own device under your own control for as long as you keep it there.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We will continue to evaluate this Privacy Policy as we update the extension, and we may make changes accordingly. We will post any changes here and revise the date last updated above. We encourage you to check this page periodically to stay informed.
